HP Compaq Presario CQ40 – Review

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 is part of the HP Compaq Presario series intended for business use, but not for hardcore usage like gaming and digital media editing and rendering. 

 

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 is loaded with the Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo P7350 processor that clocks at 2 GHz.  This technology allows seamless computing preferable for businessmen who need to do some work without the comfort of their desks.

 

The CQ40’s Centrino processor is supported by 2 GB of RAM, which is more than enough to buffer hard applications and allow multitasking.

 

For storage alone, the HP Compaq Presario CQ40 has 250 GB of space to fill up with, and even has an ExpressCard slot if ever one decides to connect to another hard drive.

 

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 sports a 14.1-inch widescreen LCD that carries a native resolution of 1280 x 800.  It may be too small for some people, but the HP Compaq Presario CQ40’s display is enough for detailed watching of movies and graphics.

 

Despite its processing power, the HP Compaq Presario CQ40 lacks a dedicated graphics memory to back up its rendering capabilities.  This results in its inability to handle programs that needs large amount of VRAM, making the HP Compaq Presario CQ40 not ideal for playing hardcore games and graphics editing and rendering.

 

Other features loaded in HP Compaq Presario CQ40 include 2 USB and eSATA ports.  The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 also has output options for VGA and HDMI.  Its also has infrared and bluetooth abilities as well as Ethernet port, a 56 kbps modem, and Wireless LAN. One top of that, the HP Compaq Presario CQ40 also has a fingerprint sensor and a webcam.

PROS

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 has good processing power and memory support for great computing performance.  Expect lag-less performance when doing several tasks at the same time.  Opening several windows at the same time is also allowable in the HP Compaq Presario CQ40 due to its 1280 x 800 display.

 

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 is also light for a 14-incher, weighing only 2.4 kilograms.

 

CONS

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 lacks the ability to process hardcore games owing to the absence of a dedicated graphics card.  But again, the Presario series is not a gaming series.

 

CONCLUSION

The HP Compaq Presario CQ40 is definitely a good buy when one is looking for a thinking machine that could handle business applications and could be carried anywhere.
